“Súramerica” means South America in Spanish. Latin America is comprised of South American, Central America and Mexico. Oh, the magic of Latin America! Need some magic in your life? Try Latin America! Latin America has a plethora of places to see, and here are some of the most popular destinations that I compiled in an organized list! Travel at your own risk – these are just suggestions!

1. MEXICO :
   1. What an incredibly beautiful country! Most people are kind and hospitable. There is a lot of natural beauty and many ancient sites to explore. 
   2. Highlights: Mexico City, Tulum, Chichen Itza, Xilitla, Huasteca Potosina in San Luis Potosi, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Butterfly Biosphere Preserve in Michoacan, Oaxaca, Monte Albán
2. GUATEMALA :
   1. I have heard this country is green and beautiful, great for adventurers and very affordable to travel.
   2. Highlights: Tikal, Antigua
3. HONDURAS :
   1. Utila is great for scuba diving, and go to Copan to see the ruins.
   2. Highlights: Copan, Utila
4. NICARAGUA :
   1. I’ve heard this country is affordable and beautiful, just like Guatemala.
   2. Highlights: Granada, Ometepe, San Juan del Sur
5. COSTA RICA :
   1. On the expensive side, lots of rainforest and exotic animals to see, volcanoes to climb, a nice place to live or retire, attractive place for expats.
   2. Highlights: Mirador Rio Celeste, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, Montezuma, San Jose
6. ECUADOR :
   1. Affordable, as far as I’ve heard!
   2. Highlights: Banos, fly to GALAPAGOS Islands
7. PERU :
   1. Medium affordability, a must-see country.
   2. Highlights: Machu Picchu (a top highlight of South America), Incan Ruins, Nazca Lines, Museum of Gold, Indigenous Islands
8. ARGENTINA :
   1. Expensive but worth it because it’s so beautiful. A lot of European descendants and immigrants live in Argentina so it has a greater European cultural feel than many other Latinx countries.
   2. Highlights: Bariloche, Torres del Paine, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Buenos Aires
9. CHILE :
   1. Another country where if you have the money to go, then go. It’s beautiful. A coastline country. Medium affordability.
   2. Highlights: Atacama desert (incredible sky at night), fly to EASTER ISLAND
10. BOLIVIA :
    1. On the expensive side, pretty.
    2. Highlights: Uyuni (salt flats)
11. BRAZIL :
    1. Medium affordability, great travel destinations inside the country
    2. Highlights: Iguazu falls*  (top highlight of South America), Bonito Springs, Rio de Janeiro* (top highlight of South America), Amazon & Pantanal* (top highlights of South America)
12. VENEZUELA :
    1. Beautiful but lots of political upheaval, so safety is questionable
    2. Highlights: Mt Roraima, Salto Angel (Angel Falls) – both of these destinations are top highlights of South America
13. COLOMBIA
    1. Safety is questionable. Exercise caution.
    2. Highlights: Parque Tayrona, Medellin, Bogota
